Lydia Boesch, the attorney who won a federal injunction on May 16, 2000, forcing the National Park Service to re-open the closed areas at Fort Funston once the bank swallows had departed, cuts a ribbon August 16th in the "infernal" fence separating the so-called "permanent" and "seasonal" areas.
The Park Service now proposes to close both areas, PLUS another two acres, year-round.
